Description

the client is seeking a Vice President of Strategic Communications & Advocacy, a newly created senior leadership role that treats communications as a tool for influence. This position will shape and steward the client’s public voice to advance its mission, strengthen relationships, and support narratives centered on racial equity and financial prosperity. The vice president will work as a member of the leadership team and report to the president, helping connect strategic communications and advocacy as mutually reinforcing elements of the client’s shift toward community power-building and system change.

Key responsibilities include developing and executing a comprehensive strategic communications plan aligned with the client’s strategy and framework, and stewarding a clear, cohesive public voice and brand across platforms and channels. The role will also lead the development of a community power-building communications approach and support community members, organizations, and leaders as they share stories that reflect joy and resilience while challenging harmful narratives. In partnership with the vice president for people, culture & operations, the vice president will lead internal communications strategy.

The ideal candidate will be a senior communications leader who is passionate about racial equity and ready to help shape both narrative and practice. They should understand how communications can support policy and systems change and how to amplify community voice through authentic, relationship-driven engagement. The vice president will help ensure communications efforts are closely connected to advocacy and community power-building, supporting the client’s commitment to transparency, accountability, humility, and collaboration across sectors.
