the client is hiring a VP of Product to lead a portfolio of defense modeling and simulation solutions supporting mission rehearsal, distributed training, and operational readiness for government customers. This is a highly visible executive role focused on product strategy and execution across funded programs, evolving customer requirements, interoperability needs, and rigorous quality expectations. The ideal leader will pair deep technical understanding with strong product judgment to align roadmap decisions with contract delivery, long-term platform health, and real-world mission value.
The VP of Product will shape and own product roadmap direction across funded customer programs, recurring enhancements, sustainment priorities, and selective capability growth. Responsibilities include guiding product managers across multiple software suites, partnering with engineering and program leadership to deliver product commitments within government contract constraints, and making product decisions in integration-heavy ecosystems rather than standalone applications. The role will also support standards-based environments, including familiarity with SISO, DIS, HLA, and live, virtual, and constructive training contexts, while ensuring product requirements management, release readiness, documentation discipline, and feedback loops tied to defect resolution, fielded use, and customer acceptance.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field (an advanced degree is preferred). The client is also looking for significant leadership experience in product management, product development, or portfolio leadership within defense, aerospace, or similarly mission-critical environments, along with a strong technical foundation in software development and credibility with engineering-led organizations.
