The client is seeking a VP of Finance to own and lead the company’s core financial activities in support of rapid, prudent growth. This role is expected to drive analysis that helps executives make strategic decisions, with a focus on achieving unit-level and company-wide profitability, operational efficiency, and effective cash management. The VP of Finance will take a hands-on approach across finance functions, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and industry-specific regulations.
The VP of Finance will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including sales, marketing, manufacturing, fulfillment, and accounting, to challenge assumptions and identify opportunities to improve performance. Key responsibilities include FP&A support such as managing financial statements and building dashboards to track goals, progress, and KPIs; partnering with third-party bookkeeping and accounting providers to produce accurate reporting; monitoring production, working capital, and capital expenditures; overseeing tax filings and appropriate business licensing across jurisdictions; supporting marketing and sales budgeting while monitoring ROI; and providing oversight for retail and wholesale order processing, invoicing, and inventory-related performance.
Additional responsibilities include ensuring appropriate insurance coverage, managing cash and financial arrangements such as equipment leases and lines of credit with banking partners, and supervising third-party HR and benefits providers. The client is looking for a proactive finance leader with strong communication skills and very strong Excel capabilities, along with strong work ethics and an ownership mindset grounded in data-driven decision-making. Prior experience in cost accounting and financial forecasting is required, and experience in regulated consumer categories (such as tobacco, cannabis, wine, or spirits) is appreciated, as are prior leadership titles such as VP of Finance, Director of Finance, or CFO.
