The client is seeking a VP Loan Operations Officer to lead and manage loan operations, including loan processing, preparation of loan documentation, lending file management, collateral maintenance, recordkeeping, reporting, and loan compliance. This role works closely with lending officers, credit department staff, and clients to resolve issues, ensure efficient department operations, and support successful loan closings, including coordination with internal resources when needed. The position is expected to have strong knowledge across both commercial and consumer lending, complex real estate transactions, and operational management involving Small Business Administration (SBA) products and related processes.
Key responsibilities include managing and staffing loan operations, and training or coaching teams to improve efficiency and accuracy in loan documentation and workflow. The role oversees departmental workflow by streamlining processes and implementing procedures to support compliance and customer service. It will support SBA loan sales processing, eligibility review, fee processing, and coordination with loan servicing for SBA loan monitoring, while also contributing to a broad range of commercial loan types such as commercial real estate, multi-family, lines of credit, letters of credit, participations, SBA 504, and USDA. The officer provides guidance and completes documentation for complex loan agreements, and maintains loan document programs to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
The VP Loan Operations Officer reviews commercial documentation requests to ensure adherence to bank policy and confirms proper approvals are in place prior to documentation. The role obtains required insurance, including flood determinations when applicable, and performs quality assurance for loans uploaded by verifying legal completeness and proper filing, such as UCC, mortgage, and insurance filings, as well as balances and key loan terms. It also prepares and maintains commercial loan credit and collateral files (online and hard copy), maintains working knowledge of lending compliance and legal lending requirements, supports internal audits of collateral-related records, and prepares monthly loan reports for lenders and management. Additional duties include internal audit support, problem resolution with lenders, recommending process improvements, updating procedures and systems to reflect changes, supporting internal and external audits, completing special projects, and participating in at least one community reinvestment event each year.
