The client is seeking a hands-on VP of Finance to own finance and accounting end-to-end, including FP&A, cash management, budgeting, month-end close, financial analysis, and finance operations. This role will oversee outsourced accounting and tax support while remaining accountable for financial accuracy and sound judgment that informs company decision-making. The VP of Finance will be a subject matter expert on financial health and planning and will partner directly with the CEO on strategic questions such as growth pace, investment priorities, and safe operating margins.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining a deep understanding of business drivers to shape financial assumptions and decisions, and building driver-based financial models across revenue, costs, margin, and cash. The role will own cash forecasting and identify ways to generate and deploy cash more effectively within risk tolerances. The VP of Finance will lead financial planning using zero-based budgeting and ROI-based capital allocation to increase operating cash flow and fund the highest-growth activities, while partnering with data and cross-functional teams to provide a strong financial lens for decision-making.
With support from an outsourced accounting firm, the VP of Finance will prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, including revenue recognition, balance sheet reconciliations, and annual independent audits. The role will analyze operating and financial results, distill key insights, and assess opportunities and risks, while managing spend (including accounts payable and vendor negotiations) with an emphasis on maximizing cash ROI. Additional responsibilities include owning tax strategy across relevant tax types, developing perspectives on financing and capital structure (including cap table and dilution modeling), and representing the company in investor relations, fundraising, M&A, or other capital projects. The client is looking for a senior finance leader who has owned end-to-end finance, demonstrates exceptional forecasting and planning, and is an aggressive, creative first-principles thinker who prioritizes accuracy and honesty; experience in consumer subscription and marketplace businesses, early-stage fast-growing companies, and financing and M&A-related activities is preferred.
