The client is seeking a VP, Deposit Operations Manager for the Chicago, IL market. The role directly manages Retail Operations tied to check, ACH, debit card, and ATM transaction processing, including paid items, large items, non-post, online entries, overdrafts, return items, stop payments, statement rendering, and research and legal documentation related to subpoenas and citations.
The VP, Deposit Operations Manager will oversee deposit account processing and related reconciliation, including check payments, deposited items, ACH activities, overdrafts and return items, ATM and debit card settlement, and statement rendering. The position also involves active management of lockbox remittance processing and the proof department function, including customer setup and monthly billing, as well as preparation of monthly statistical control reports for account reconciliation, ATM and debit card metrics, lockbox profitability, and other reports as requested.
Additional responsibilities include resolving customer issues related to deposit and lockbox exceptions or errors; overseeing customer masterfile records; managing due from the bank activities and settlement/reconciliation processes across official check, currency vault, Internet Banking, ATM card processing, and monthly general ledger balancing packages; and ensuring imaging, deposit account research and adjustment, and appropriate documentation workflows. The role leads a Retail Operations team through coaching, mentoring, development, training, performance management, and employee relations, while partnering with other functional areas to support efficient and timely management of customer deposit accounts; other duties may be assigned. Qualifications typically include a high school diploma or GED with a business-related or technical college degree preferred, ten or more years of retail banking or related experience with significant exposure to deposit operations, supervisory/management experience, working knowledge of core bank compliance topics, strong judgment and attention to detail, effective time management, excellent oral and written communication, and solid technology skills.
