The client is seeking a VP Compliance Officer to help ensure the bank operates in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This is a hands-on leadership role that involves working across functional areas to develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs, support compliance risk management, and provide practical guidance to business units.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining the bank’s compliance programs; conducting regular risk assessments and compliance audits; monitoring and reporting on compliance with regulatory requirements; providing guidance and training to business units; investigating and resolving compliance issues and complaints; preparing and submitting compliance reports to senior management and relevant regulatory stakeholders; and staying current on changes in laws and regulations affecting the bank’s operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of banking regulations and compliance requirements, along with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. The role is expected to be performed both independently and collaboratively, and professional compliance certifications such as CRCM or CAMS (or similar) are preferred. Experience or working knowledge across a variety of compliance areas is expected, including—by example—CRA, BSA, retail/deposit regulations, Reg E, Reg CC, fair lending and related protections, Truth-in-Lending, RESPA, Fair Housing, HMDA, Flood Disaster Protection, Reg O, and the USA PATRIOT Act.
