The client is seeking a VP of Business Development to help scale its data- and technology-driven platform supporting pre-owned luxury goods. The role focuses on identifying, pursuing, and growing strategic partnership opportunities that may include retail channels such as department stores and travel retail operators, as well as brands and luxury goods groups. The business development effort is expected to support the expansion of a turn-key approach spanning proprietary data, technology, procurement, global logistics, and retail inventory insight.
Responsibilities include developing and implementing a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with growth objectives, identifying and pursuing new opportunities across relevant partner categories, and building and maintaining strong relationships with senior decision-makers. The role will educate clients on the benefits of the end-to-end solution and its impact on brand and performance, and it will negotiate and close deals with large organizations. The VP will also collaborate with internal teams such as operations, marketing, and customer service to help ensure smooth implementation of new partnerships.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development through strategic partnerships, along with strong knowledge of the luxury goods industry. The role typically requires substantial experience (10+ years) and a strong C-level network across department stores, travel retail operators, luxury brands, and/or luxury goods groups, plus excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidates should be able to explain and advocate for a new business model, demonstrate negotiation and closing capabilities with large organizations, and show strategic thinking to identify opportunities; a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field is expected, with an MBA as a plus. This opportunity may be structured as full-time or as a part-time consulting mission.
