the client is seeking a senior credit risk professional to provide ownership of private market credit risk portfolios with a high exposure to private credit, business development companies (BDCs), and complex fund structures. this role will conduct credit risk assessment and underwriting for private equity and private credit platforms, including evaluating fund-level and manager-level risk across investment strategies, leverage, liquidity, capital structures, and governance frameworks.
key responsibilities include reviewing and approving credit limits, financing terms, and risk ratings in accordance with internal risk appetite, and preparing detailed credit memoranda and recommendations for senior risk committees. the role will also perform ongoing portfolio monitoring and risk management by surveilling approved counterparties, tracking indicators such as NAV trends and portfolio performance, assessing concentration and covenant compliance, and monitoring reporting obligations and key risk indicators.
the position will further assess market and idiosyncratic risks impacting private credit portfolios and fund vehicles, identify emerging risks, and recommend mitigation actions such as exposure adjustments or enhanced monitoring. additionally, it will cover credit risk across a range of structures—including private credit funds, BDCs, managed accounts, and registered fund vehicles—while partnering with internal stakeholders on product approvals, fund financing, and strategic initiatives; the successful candidate will typically have a bachelor’s degree in a finance-related discipline and extensive experience in credit risk within private markets, along with strong analytical judgement, communication skills, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
