The client is seeking to recruit two voluntary board members to help broaden its knowledge base and expertise in support of growing its maternal health and nutrition programs and shaping its future direction. Given the nature of its work, The client is keen to promote gender balance on the board and encourage applications from women with relevant expertise and commitment. The client also aims to reflect a diverse cultural mix and welcomes representatives from minority communities, including applicants from low- and middle-income countries.
Desired skills and experience include maternal and newborn health and nutrition, program management, governance, media, and fundraising. Applicants are expected to have a deep appreciation and knowledge of the not-for-profit sector working in the least developed countries, along with a strong understanding and commitment to The client’s mission focused on maternal and newborn health and nutrition. The role also requires a commitment to high standards of corporate governance and accountability, as well as the ability to support and maintain a strong governance structure.
Key responsibilities include providing input to The client’s strategic direction and contributing insight, oversight, and experience during board meetings, as well as supporting policy development and implementation when required. Board members will also represent the organization at social functions and contribute to effective governance practices. The client anticipates holding four board meetings and four to six sub-committee meetings annually, with meetings conducted in a hybrid format (in Cork and online).
