The client is seeking voluntary board members to help expand and refresh its board during a growth phase with new projects to deliver. The role focuses on building a well-functioning, diverse board with a broad range of skills and experience to support the organization’s strategic development, governance, business development, health and safety oversight, HR input, and stakeholder relations, including arts and culture considerations.
Key responsibilities include providing input to the organization’s strategic direction, contributing to governance and policy development, developing and strengthening a stakeholder network, and identifying new business and collaboration opportunities. The client is interested in candidates who may have exposure to non-profits and creative organizations, while recognizing that creative industry experience is not required; curiosity, fresh ideas, and new perspectives are especially valued. Experience and/or interest in health and safety and HR is expected.
Board members should be prepared to attend four to six meetings per year, either in person or online, with board terms typically lasting two to three years. The client operates a non-profit circus education and professional training environment, providing education for children, youth, and adults through workshops and courses, as well as events, performances, and an outreach program; candidates may be supported in arranging a visit to the premises if desired. The organization runs a major festival event in August and participates in additional events and festivals over the year.
