The client is seeking an outstanding and experienced leader to serve as Vice-Principal and Head of the College of Science and Engineering. The role provides strategic direction for a large, research-intensive grouping of science and engineering disciplines, with responsibility for ensuring continued delivery of research and education of global significance. The successful candidate will help shape future research assessment preparations and will lead at the institutional level as part of the University’s senior leadership community.
The College encompasses multiple academic schools across core science and engineering areas and includes two centres of excellence focused on high-performance computing and on innovation in data science and artificial intelligence. This position will play a central role in delivering university-wide research missions, including advancing health and care, addressing climate and environmental challenges, and harnessing data, digital and AI for public benefit. The Vice-Principal will also champion teaching quality and student experience, and will deepen industry and innovation partnerships through existing partnership arrangements.
The client is looking for a proven academic leader with the vision, integrity, and collaborative approach to lead a diverse and high-performing community, while contributing effectively as a senior leader across institutional requirements. The role is expected to be held by someone with a distinguished record of research and/or teaching consistent with the academic standing of a professor, along with a strong track record of delivering organisational change. The candidate should also have effective interpersonal skills to operate within the Senior Leadership Team, and will support equality, diversity, and inclusion within the leadership approach.
