Description

The client is seeking a Vice President (or Senior Account Supervisor) to oversee accounts with a focus on carbon markets, supporting business development. This role may be based in Washington, DC or Boston, with remote work also considered. The agency supports organizations with strategic communications and related services focused on advancing sustainable initiatives across multiple environmental subject areas.

Responsibilities include driving U.S. new business development through agency proposals, negotiations, and securing business; project managing retained or project-based strategic communications assignments spanning research, strategy, branding, messaging, content, and outreach across media with a U.S. or international focus; and coordinating with senior client representatives on day-to-day needs. The role also involves managing delivery across remote or hybrid team members to a high standard, hiring and developing junior talent, contributing to agency knowledge management, and supporting the development of U.S. marketing materials.

Qualifications include strong leadership and ambassadorial presence with policy and external audiences, along with excellent written and verbal communication in English. Candidates are expected to have deep knowledge relevant to carbon markets and broader environmental topics such as clean energy, circular economy, sustainable finance, and sustainable agriculture, plus strong organizational and project management skills. The position typically requires significant experience in strategic communications and media relations, including managerial experience at a major communications agency, and may value familiarity with the U.S. political landscape related to clean energy and the environment, proficiency in using AI tools where applicable, and a creative ability to translate complex topics for media and other external stakeholders.
