Description

The client is seeking a Vice President of States, a senior leadership role that will collaborate with the Senior Vice President of States and other vice presidents to oversee and support State Directors in leading advocacy efforts across their states. This position will ensure alignment between state-level and national priorities, foster collaboration across states and teams, and guide teams through organizational change to achieve program goals and measurable impact.

This is a full-time role reporting to the Senior Vice President, States. It is remote within the lower 48 United States and includes an expectation to travel up to one week per month. Key responsibilities include managing and supporting State Directors across multiple states to meet programmatic, financial, and operational goals; developing proactive strategies based on each state’s political landscape; improving sustainability and efficiency through resource allocation and systems/process improvements; and providing professional development, coaching, career progression support, retention efforts, and succession planning.

The Vice President of States will also serve as an external representative and advocate for state work, including building relationships with donors, policymakers, and coalition partners and speaking to the media as needed. The role includes collaborating across the organization to promote state activities, developing public-facing materials and written communications, coordinating with development to align state strategy with development efforts, and supporting states in meeting fundraising goals, which may include drafting written fundraising materials and assisting with grant reporting accuracy.
