The client seeks a Vice President of Sales to develop and execute a strategic sales plan that drives revenue growth in the California market and supports near-term expansion into other key markets. This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role suited to a fast-paced startup environment, where you will build and scale sales processes from the ground up and operate effectively with limited team and resources initially.
Key responsibilities include creating a comprehensive California sales strategy, identifying and prioritizing on-premise and off-premise accounts to grow brand visibility, and establishing structured sales processes with KPIs and scalable metrics. You will manage and grow relationships with distributors and wholesalers, negotiate agreements to maximize market reach, and provide accurate sales forecasting, performance reporting, and market trend analysis to inform decisions.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience driving sales growth in the beverage or spirits industry, particularly within startup or high-growth settings, along with demonstrated ability to build sales strategies and lead in entrepreneurial environments with limited structure. A strong understanding of the California spirits market—especially the Mezcal sector—and an ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, product, and operations are essential, as is a strong analytical, data-driven mindset and a commitment to regulatory compliance, professionalism, and ethical sales practices. The role typically requires willingness to travel across California to build relationships and support sales initiatives.
