The client is seeking a dynamic and strategic vice president of marketing and communications to lead national messaging, brand identity, and digital presence. reporting directly to the senior vice president of external affairs, you will serve as a key leadership connector across departments, driving integrated campaigns aligned to organizational priorities to amplify the mission, mobilize supporters, and support pro-democracy objectives.
this full-time role is based in washington, dc, with an expectation to work from the office at least two days per week. responsibilities include setting and driving organizational communications strategy, defining and executing an integrated marketing, communications, and digital plan to expand external audience reach, and supporting a transition toward a digital-first communications model with measurable digital growth. you will also propose and pilot innovative initiatives, advise senior leaders on communication opportunities and risks, and manage the marketing and communications teams and functions within the external affairs department.
you will collaborate to set goals with direct reports, coach and develop team members, and foster an inclusive culture of accountability. additional responsibilities include strengthening organization-wide communications strategy, establishing team structures and cross-departmental workflows for seamless execution, and overseeing rapid-response systems for breaking news and emerging policy issues. you will manage communications for national and state-level priority campaigns, covering areas such as media relations, messaging guidance, and content creation, serve as a primary liaison to senior internal stakeholders, represent the organization in coalition meetings, and ensure national and state-specific efforts reinforce one another.
