The client is conducting a confidential search for a Vice President of Litigation to lead a complex, enterprise-level litigation portfolio. This role focuses on strategic oversight, risk stewardship, and executive judgment rather than courtroom advocacy. The position supports enterprise value by shaping global litigation strategy and advising senior leadership across high-stakes, technically and contractually complex matters in areas such as construction, commercial disputes, insurance, legacy, and investigative issues.
key responsibilities include developing and implementing litigation strategies aligned with enterprise risk tolerance and financial objectives, providing senior-level judgment on matters with significant financial, operational, and reputational exposure, and translating complex legal risks into clear, actionable insights for executive leadership and, where appropriate, the board. The vice president of litigation will serve as a strategic advisor by partnering closely with leaders across operations, finance, insurance, and risk to shape dispute strategy and outcomes. The role also includes guiding major construction and EPC disputes, insurance matters, and legacy liabilities, along with oversight of investigations, subpoenas, and sensitive matters.
the vice president of litigation will own outside counsel strategy by managing relationships with external law firms and setting expectations for strategy, staffing, budgets, and performance in alignment with business priorities. Leadership responsibilities include mentoring and guiding an experienced litigation and claims team, supporting succession planning and talent development, and fostering a collaborative, relationship-driven culture. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience managing high-value litigation and advising senior leadership, with demonstrated expertise in litigation strategy, outside counsel management, and leading and mentoring legal teams; experience across construction, EPC, infrastructure, energy, mining, or industrial environments is expected, along with exposure to complex global or public company settings.
