The client is seeking a Vice President of Finance to provide strategic financial and operational leadership and to support the organization’s mission and multi-year strategic plan. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the role will lead finance planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, modeling, cash flow management, risk management, and compliance, delivering meaningful financial insights to support effective decision-making for senior leadership and relevant governance committees.
The Vice President of Finance will hold overall responsibility for the Finance and Facilities functions, leading a team of more than 20 employees with direct reports including the Controller, Facilities Manager, and Health and Safety Coordinator. The role will ensure strong financial systems, controls, and reporting practices while identifying opportunities to modernize and improve processes through automation and technology. Additional responsibilities include leadership for financial and physical assets, investment strategy, purchasing and vendor relationships, enterprise risk management, and capital planning, along with cross-organization collaboration to ensure these functions support broader priorities.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished finance executive with at least 10 years of progressive experience leading finance and accounting functions within a complex organization. A CPA or equivalent qualification in accounting, business, or finance is required, along with strong expertise in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, modeling, audit, compliance, and risk management. Experience improving financial reporting through automation and process improvement is important, and experience implementing a finance information system is an asset; the candidate should be a strategic, collaborative leader with strong judgment, analytical capability, and the ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to senior leaders and board members, with experience in complex private or public sector environments preferred and experience in a unionized environment an asset.
