The client seeks a Vice President of Finance to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, reporting to the President & CEO. This role provides strategic and operational oversight of all finance functions, guiding financial planning, compliance, accounting operations, audit activities, and organizational reporting. The VP of Finance will support stewardship of resources and help strengthen the finance infrastructure, systems, and processes for a complex, grant-funded organization operating across multiple geographies.
Key responsibilities include serving as a strategic advisor on financial planning, forecasting, compliance, and organizational performance; developing and executing a comprehensive financial strategy and multi-year roadmap; and leading budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and scenario planning to support decision-making. The role will align revenue forecasting, grant budgeting, and financial reporting across funding streams, translating complex financial information into clear insights for executive leadership, board members, and program teams. The VP of Finance will also support building and maintaining cash reserves and provide timely financial guidance in a dynamic environment.
The position oversees finance and accounting operations, including close processes, cash flow management, and financial reporting, while ensuring compliance with GAAP and nonprofit financial standards. Responsibilities include managing core accounting functions (such as general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and fixed assets), overseeing grant financial management, and developing financial policies, procedures, and training to support compliance and efficiency. The VP of Finance leads the annual audit process, ensures timely completion of audit requirements and IRS Form 990-related responsibilities, strengthens internal controls, partners with board committees on financial reporting and analysis, and builds a high-performing finance and accounting team through leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration.
