Description

The client is seeking a Vice President of External Relations, a senior executive leader responsible for directing resource development, investor relations, capitalization strategy, grant writing, marketing, and communications. In this mission-driven role, the Vice President will act as a key strategist and ambassador, working closely with executive leadership, the Board, and finance and compliance partners to grow and diversify funding sources, strengthen institutional partnerships, and elevate organizational visibility and community impact. The position advances The client’s capitalization goals by cultivating relationships with public, private, and philanthropic funders and by supporting the development of financing opportunities, development communications, and impact reporting that engages investors.

Core responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies to raise loan capital and operating funds, tailoring structures to funder and investor requirements, and building and managing relationships across public, private, and philanthropic sectors. The Vice President will collaborate with the CFO to structure, negotiate, and manage financing agreements with banks, foundations, and other investors, and—supported by the Compliance Officer—ensure adherence to funder and investor requirements. This leader will oversee development and marketing communications, support investor and funder prospecting efforts, direct impact tracking and reporting initiatives, and monitor capital markets and philanthropic trends to identify new sources of capital and anticipate shifts affecting the organization’s capitalization strategy.

The Vice President will also oversee grant writing and institutional resource development by managing high-quality grant applications, ensuring timely reporting, and providing strong funder stewardship. They will lead development and management of an annual development plan to support programming and operating needs, support federal grant applications through coordination with relevant consultants and stakeholders, and monitor grant activities, compliance requirements, reporting deliverables, and accurate funding records. In marketing and communications, the role will develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the organization’s brand and reputation, lead integrated communications efforts across platforms, align messaging across external touchpoints such as media, events, investors, and stakeholders, and support storytelling initiatives that reinforce organizational programs and impact.
