The client is seeking a Vice President of Development to lead and manage its development team and support long-term organizational sustainability. This senior-level role will oversee fundraising and donor relations, focusing on increasing funding and meeting team revenue goals. The Vice President of Development will cultivate relationships with major donors, plan and execute key fundraising activities, and ensure that development efforts are coordinated and results-driven.
Key responsibilities include supervising and supporting the development team, developing and implementing fundraising strategies across individual donors, corporations, foundations, and government sources, and managing major donor relationships to secure and enhance contributions. The role will also oversee the planning and execution of two major fundraising events each year, monitor and track donations for accurate reporting, and ensure effective collaboration across senior leaders and board members. Additional duties include grant oversight, including management of grant writing and support for reporting and use of grant funds.
The client expects proven experience in a senior development role within a non-profit setting, with a track record in fundraising and donor relations, as well as experience leading a development team. Demonstrated abilities include cultivating major donor relationships, planning major fundraising events, managing grants, and working collaboratively with senior leadership and the board. A bachelor’s degree is required, a master’s degree may be preferred, CFRE certification is preferred, and the role is expected to support a hybrid work model with flexibility to travel within the city’s five boroughs.
