The client seeks a Vice President of Development and External Affairs Strategy and Operations to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Development and External Affairs department. In this role, you will ensure the planning processes, systems, and team coordination needed to support ambitious revenue goals and steward a growing network of stakeholders. You will also serve as a key internal partner, helping translate enterprise priorities into actionable direction for the department.
You will lead the operating strategy for the Development and External Affairs team, including annual operating planning, prioritization and resourcing decisions, integration of donor and investor engagement strategy, and development of the team’s service menu. You will establish performance standards, drive training and capability building, and set an effective operating cadence. The role is focused on aligning fundraising activities, investor engagement, and cross-team coordination through streamlined systems and processes to enable high-quality donor engagement at scale.
The client will have you lead a team of eight, including four direct reports, and oversee core functions spanning systems and operations, donor and stakeholder communications, major and annual giving, and external affairs. The position does not manage an individual donor portfolio and does not require personal revenue targets; instead, you will be accountable for building and running the operating infrastructure, planning, and team capability that enable others to meet organizational revenue goals.
