Description

the client is seeking a Vice President of Development & Partnerships to lead fundraising and development activities and partner closely with the President & CEO. The role will help bridge urgent funding needs of grassroots climate leaders with meaningful financial resources, and build a sustainable, diversified financial base to support the organization’s grantmaking and narrative communications work focused on grassroots climate action. The client’s approach centers frontline communities and equity in advancing a just climate transition.

The Vice President will leverage philanthropic investments to increase revenue and establish a stable, data-driven revenue model that emphasizes solidarity philanthropy, major gifts, and long-term sustainability. Responsibilities will typically include identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts from individuals and institutions, as well as developing multi-year fundraising strategies and campaigns that involve assessment, scoping, phasing, and goal-setting. The role is expected to strengthen donor stewardship, improve fundraising operations, and support clear, externally facing ambassador activities with the ability to communicate confidently and persuasively.

The client is looking for candidates with twelve-plus years of fundraising experience, including demonstrated leadership success, and a preference for experience at an early-stage organization. Strong qualifications include a track record building sustainable development programs across multiple giving channels (such as individuals, institutions, major gifts, planned gifts, digital, and annual giving), experience creating donor materials and proposals, and a proactive, entrepreneurial approach to developing new partnerships. The position also requires demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and evaluate development staff and to collaborate effectively across departments, including experience working in virtual teams.
