The client is seeking a Vice President of Data Engineering to lead data engineering and platform initiatives at scale within a complex, global financial environment. The role centers on shaping how financial and risk data is standardized, governed, and delivered across multiple business units, while influencing both architecture and strategy and remaining hands-on in delivery. It will support enterprise-grade data platform development and shared services with an emphasis on governance, regulatory alignment, and platform modernization.
The Vice President will take ownership of key data engineering initiatives and act as a technical leader and hands-on contributor across data platform development. Responsibilities include designing and delivering scalable data engineering pipelines and systems, driving data standardization and convergence across finance, risk, and treasury domains, and defining and influencing data architecture, modeling frameworks, and platform strategy. The role also involves improving data lineage, governance, and regulatory reporting capabilities, collaborating with distributed engineering teams, mentoring engineers, and translating complex stakeholder requirements into effective data solutions.
Candidates should have strong commercial experience in data engineering and backend development, along with expertise in distributed data processing technologies and modern data platforms, as well as proven skills in designing and delivering scalable cloud-based solutions. Proficiency in Java or Python for large-scale data applications is expected, alongside strong data modeling experience, ideally in financial or regulated contexts. Background in financial services or other regulated environments is required, and the role will support adoption of cloud-based data platforms and distributed processing technologies.
