The client invites nominations and applications for the Vice President for Communications & Marketing role. This senior leadership position will serve as a chief architect of the client’s brand and identity, advancing its mission and culture while elevating its reputation regionally, nationally, and globally. Reporting to the President and serving on his cabinet, the Vice President will provide strategic direction for marketing, communications, social media, and public relations efforts, partnering closely with senior leadership to tell the client’s story in a consistent and compelling way across digital, print, and media platforms. The work will support efforts that attract and retain students, strengthen alumni and donor engagement, and highlight faculty and student achievements.
The Vice President will be responsible for managing and mentoring staff, setting and achieving key objectives to deepen the division’s impact on the client’s visibility and engagement with on- and off-campus constituencies. The role oversees a team structure that includes direct reports and a broader staff group. The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree preferred, and will bring progressively responsible experience in communications and marketing, including significant leadership experience managing people and budgets within a complex organization. Experience in higher education is strongly preferred, though other mission-driven, similarly complex environments may be considered.
The client seeks a proven record of driving results through strategic communications planning and execution, brand and identity management, and digital strategy, including website development and social media engagement. Experience in media relations, crisis response, and reputation management is expected, along with familiarity with advancement and enrollment communications, which is highly desirable. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, along with strong analytical ability and a proven record of building and leading diverse, high-performing teams, will be essential.
