The client’s Vice President of Advancement leads the development and implementation of an integrated resource development and advancement strategy to grow financial resources, visibility, and reputational impact. The role is responsible for raising private and public funds to support the client’s annual operating needs and strategic funding priorities, while also directing volunteer engagement and managing donor communications and marketing. The position reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and works closely with the Chief Advancement Officer to support organization-wide efforts to increase funding, functioning as part of an advancement team with director-level oversight and responsibility for a portfolio of major donors.
Key responsibilities include planning, implementing, and overseeing fundraising activities such as major gifts, annual giving, special events, and corporate and foundation relationships, as well as prospect research, planned giving, donor communications, volunteer engagement, and e-philanthropy. The role will maintain a personal portfolio of major donors and help staff the Chief Advancement Officer and CEO in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donor relationships. The vice president is also expected to implement diversified revenue strategies with an emphasis on sustainable unrestricted funding and to plan, launch, and complete successful campaigns aligned with the client’s strategic plan, while maintaining gift policies and protocols that support fundraising goals.
The role includes leadership and team development, with supervision and support of director-level development and advancement staff, along with oversight of hiring, onboarding, training, and professional development. The vice president is expected to guide team execution across development functions and ensure effective donor relationship management through donor communications, stewardship practices, and coordinated advancement efforts.
