Description

The client is seeking an accomplished physician executive to serve as Vice President, Medical Affairs (VPMA). This senior leadership role is responsible for the strategic direction, clinical performance, and continued growth of the Physician Enterprise, Ambulatory Care services, and Clinical Councils. The VPMA provides executive leadership for the clinical practice management of 250+ physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), ensuring alignment with organizational goals, quality standards, and the organization’s mission.

Reporting to the Chief Physician Executive, the VPMA leads the development and implementation of clinical programs, evidence-based protocols, and integrated care networks while fostering collaboration among physicians, hospitals, ambulatory services, and community partners. The role supports provider compensation strategies, physician and APP development, contract management, and service line expansion. The VPMA is accountable for ensuring compliance with governmental, regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards across the Physician Enterprise and Ambulatory Care settings.

As a key member of the executive leadership team, the VPMA partners with senior operations and system leaders to align physician practices, improve access to care, enhance patient outcomes, and advance operational excellence. Responsibilities include strategic oversight for physician recruitment, retention, practice development, quality performance, and productivity, as well as strengthening clinical integration to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of patient care delivery. The VPMA champions a patient-centered, evidence-based, interdisciplinary culture focused on continuous improvement in safety, quality, patient experience, and cost management. An advanced business-related degree is preferred, and board certification (or equivalent) in Surgery or Medicine with current licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in New York is required or expected.
