The client is seeking a dynamic Vice President for Research to lead and advance the client’s research enterprise. The role will inspire discoveries and help grow a collaborative, transdisciplinary research environment that also supports high-impact education, artistic endeavors, diversity, equity, and inclusion, international perspectives, and community engagement.
The Vice President for Research will oversee research-related services provided through the Research Foundation framework supporting sponsored projects, intellectual property, and technology transfer. The role will provide leadership across functions including pre- and post-award sponsored programs administration, grants management and purchasing, research compliance, entrepreneurship and innovation partnerships, research advancement and government relations, and human resources, and will serve as the Research Foundation Operations Manager for the client with authority to act on behalf of the foundation, delegate authority, commit resources and staff, obligate the foundation to activities, and otherwise legally bind the foundation in support of the client.
The Vice President for Research will participate in system-level research foundation meetings and advocate for the client when system initiatives and resources are made available. The role is expected to require an earned doctorate and academic credentials suitable for a tenured faculty appointment at the professor rank, along with a strong record of externally funded research and significant personal accomplishment; demonstrated abilities in collaboration and communication; experience supporting interdisciplinarity and cross-campus projects; and the capacity to build productive relationships with internal and external partners, including those in government and industry.
