the client seeks an inaugural Vice President for People and Culture to serve as a strategic, collaborative, agile, and innovative human resources leader. Reporting to the president and serving as a member of the president’s cabinet, the Vice President will lead a highly skilled team delivering comprehensive, leading-edge human resources services, solutions, and thought leadership. The role will also drive the strategic merger of people-and-culture units across campus to strengthen organizational capability and improve efficiency, while fostering a culture of excellence centered on the employee experience.
The Vice President for People and Culture will lead university-wide strategic people and culture initiatives, engage academic and administrative leaders, and enhance compliance and equity efforts. Responsibilities include leading the Compliance, Talent and Culture, and HR Core Services teams, shaping contemporary approaches to human resources service delivery, communication, and solutions, and providing visible, accessible leadership across campus. The position is expected to support organizational change management for best-in-class human resources and assume leadership for implementation of a system-wide CHRS initiative.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished HR leader with a passion for supporting complex, diverse workforces and a record of leading teams through continuous change and improvement. They will have experience developing and improving HR processes, systems, and policies in hands-on, collaborative environments, including workforces represented by unions, and will be a systems thinker focused on change management and business process efficiency to improve productivity, accuracy, and workflow effectiveness while reducing duplication. The Vice President will be proactive and thorough in communication with the university community on people and culture matters, and will bring experience in strategic planning, project leadership, and organizational development, with strong partnership and alignment with academic affairs.
