Description

the client is sharpening strategy and scaling impact in a period of heightened pressures affecting democracy, court integrity, and nonprofit advocacy rights. The client prioritizes data-driven work related to judicial nominations and capacity-building for advocates and members, supported by a modern, diversified advancement function. The client seeks a Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VP) to lead and grow the development department and earned revenue during a critical time, guiding the organization’s next phase of development and growth.

As a member of the senior management team, the VP will join a skilled, mission-driven development staff and partner closely with the President, program directors, and the board(s) to amplify what is working, refine strategy, strengthen internal systems, and lead efforts to identify, cultivate, close, and steward donors for sustained growth. Working collaboratively across related teams, the VP will help convert current momentum into a broader, more diverse revenue base. The VP reports to the President and leads a team that includes directors responsible for individual giving and foundation relations, as well as a development operations leader.

The VP will lead organization-wide, long-term institutional growth strategies by partnering with executive and program leadership to develop integrated plans across existing and potential development strategies and revenue sources. Key responsibilities include setting ambitious fundraising goals, diversifying individual donor programming and institutional funder outreach, establishing performance measures to monitor and evaluate development efforts, engaging leadership and board members in cultivation and solicitation, and driving strategies to increase earned revenue in partnership with strategy and other leaders. The VP will also collaborate with communications leadership to align messaging and advance development goals, expand the prospect pipeline with cross-functional partners, support board fundraising efforts, co-develop proposals, design donor journeys and stewardship plans, lead donor convenings and events to deepen engagement and retention, and coordinate timely engagement around program wins and policy moments, while ensuring legal compliance in coordination with appropriate leadership.
