Description

The client is seeking a seasoned, strategic, inclusive Vice President for Human Resources and Employee Experience (VPHR) to provide leadership across the full human resources enterprise. Reporting to the President, the VPHR will oversee talent acquisition and retention, performance management, professional development, employee engagement and belonging, compensation, benefits, payroll, HR systems, and HR compliance, with the goal of improving employee satisfaction, retention, and overall organizational success.

The VPHR will be responsible for setting the strategic vision and executing HR programs that support a positive, inclusive, high-performance workplace. This leader will balance strategic initiatives with hands-on execution, and will enhance employee experience in a resource-constrained environment through collaboration, connection, recognition, and innovation. The role will lead, empower, and professionally develop a team of nine HR professionals who deliver service and resources to faculty and staff.

The ideal candidate will bring financial and operational acumen and the ability to function as a strategic partner in shaping the organization’s future and implementing programs aligned with organizational mission and goals. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, or a related field, with a Master’s preferred, and 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, ideally including senior HR roles in higher education or a similarly complex environment. Preferred qualifications include HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP or SPHR), experience with collective bargaining agreements, and familiarity with Title IX, ADA, and other higher education-specific employment regulations.
