the client invites applications for the position of Vice President for Donor Engagement and Experience, a strategic and creative leader responsible for elevating how the organization engages its alumni and supporters. The role reports to the President & CEO and partners closely with development colleagues to strengthen the donor journey across all stages of engagement, with a focus on building affinity and long-term philanthropic support.
The Vice President will provide vision and direction for a comprehensive, unified engagement strategy that integrates events, communications, stewardship, and data-driven insights to deliver meaningful, personalized donor experiences. This leader will inspire and support a high-performing team, foster collaboration across the advancement enterprise, and ensure donor interactions reflect the organization’s values while deepening relationships and philanthropic commitment.
Ideal candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree preferred, and bring at least ten years of progressively responsible experience in advancement, development, or nonprofit leadership. Strong team leadership experience, a deep understanding of donor psychology and relationship management, and the ability to craft compelling proposals, presentations, and donor communications are essential. Experience in higher education advancement and donor relations is strongly preferred, along with familiarity with comprehensive campaigns and planned giving and estate planning concepts, and openness to innovation including emerging technologies and digital engagement platforms.
