Description

The client is seeking a visionary Vice President for Alumni Affairs and President to lead a major alumni organization that connects a large global alumni network with the university. This leadership role operates at the intersection of the university’s past, present, and future, shaping how alumni engagement is reimagined and delivered. The leader will serve in a senior, strategic capacity, partnering with university leadership and serving as a key member of the senior staff and cabinet.

The organization’s mandate is to serve as a bridge and conduit between the university and its alumni community. The President will work closely with a governing board that provides strategic guidance on alumni programs and acts as a principal representative body connecting alumni to the university’s broader governance. As a senior general manager, the role carries responsibility for personnel, business development, budgets, systems, and organizational performance, including setting vision and direction, ensuring effectiveness, and navigating complex functional demands from long-term strategy to day-to-day operations.

The client expects a forward-thinking leader who can guide change with clarity, purpose, and the ability to bring others along. The role will support the assessment and refinement of established structures and practices, including opportunities for greater integration across the university and more intentional deployment of shared services to improve alignment and effectiveness. The President will leverage data, technology, and emerging capabilities (including artificial intelligence) to better understand, segment, and engage alumni, while maintaining programs that remain relevant and resonant across generations, and will serve as an authentic and effective ambassador who translates institutional priorities into audience-appropriate engagement grounded in diplomacy and emotional intelligence.
