A client is seeking a Vice President and Chief Medical Officer to serve as the site’s senior physician executive. The role provides senior clinical leadership at an advanced care hospital and includes responsibility for physician engagement and clinical quality, with collaboration across a multi-hospital health network.
Reporting to the Site President and maintaining a dotted-line relationship with quality leadership, the Vice President, Chief Medical Officer is accountable for clinical leadership, quality improvement, patient safety, and medical staff engagement. Key responsibilities include clinical strategy and service-line development, oversight of the medical staff office and physician governance, leadership of quality and patient safety programs, regulatory and accreditation compliance, physician recruitment and engagement, and partnership related to graduate medical education/residency programs. The CMO also contributes to network-wide initiatives that support standardization and integration of care.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned physician executive with an MD or DO from an accredited institution, board certification in a medical specialty, and an active or eligible medical license in New Jersey. Candidates should have at least 7 years of clinical experience and at least 5+ years in physician leadership roles across employed and community physician settings. An advanced degree such as an MHA, MBA, or MPH is preferred, and the role calls for a hands-on, collaborative leader who can operate effectively at the C-suite level while staying closely connected to medical staff and frontline clinical teams.
