the client is seeking a highly strategic, collaborative, and innovative Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (VP CHRO) to guide significant organizational change and strengthen institutional trust, cohesion, and effectiveness. Reporting to the President, the VP CHRO will serve as a key leader, connector, and strategist across multiple campuses, providing enterprise-level human resources direction for a large workforce with multiple labor unions.
The VP CHRO will direct the university’s overall strategic and operational human resources functions, acting as a trusted advisor to senior institutional leaders and delivering data-informed recommendations on complex workforce, organizational, and cultural issues. This role includes designing, implementing, and continually iterating on a change agenda aligned with institutional priorities and capacity, with flexibility to support local needs and a shifting regulatory landscape.
The successful candidate will be highly visible, credible, and engaged, with a demonstrated ability to lead through complexity and to bring tested best practices, empathy, and resolve to transformation efforts. They are expected to elevate HR’s role as a strategic partner, ensure a consistent influential presence in enterprise decision-making, and help balance competing priorities with clarity and decisiveness, while supporting an engaged employer approach and upholding a world-class academic reputation.
