the client’s vice president of finance is a senior operational finance leadership role reporting directly to the chief financial officer. This position translates organizational strategy into financial plans, performance insights, and scalable operations, while also helping shape an equity-aligned culture where team members feel safe, supported, and empowered to succeed.
The vice president of finance owns budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and organization-wide financial performance to ensure programs, operations, and growth initiatives are financially viable, measurable, and aligned with mission impact. The role provides strategic decision support by converting strategy into actionable financial insights, evaluating risks and opportunities, and presenting clear, data-driven recommendations that may include consideration of full and opportunity costs.
Key responsibilities include leading annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-range planning; developing financial models and performance tracking frameworks with relevant KPIs; driving cross-functional change and adoption of improved financial processes and systems; monitoring performance and addressing variances to strengthen accountability; owning financial planning systems, reporting tools, and performance dashboards; partnering on ERP optimization and data integrity; and serving as a trusted financial partner across program, operations, development, and executive teams. The vice president of finance also leads and develops the controller and the broader finance team.
