The client is seeking a Market Chief Financial Officer to lead on-site financial strategy for a hospital in the market as it develops and grows. This role will support the hospital management team in achieving the organization’s financial goals and broader strategic objectives, with a focus on performance excellence and alignment with caregiver and team member goals, quality, and patient safety. The position is accountable for operating results and organizational growth and will advocate for patients and providers.
The Market CFO will serve as the lead financial resource for the hospital, reporting within the overall system finance function and working in a matrix structure with senior market leadership. Responsibilities typically include partnering with clinical and operational leaders to support service line growth, ensuring effective revenue and cost management, and contributing to planning and decision-making that supports quality and cost-effective delivery of care. The role is expected to help drive systems and processes that engage physicians and support patient and employee satisfaction.
Key qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. A master’s degree in business administration and/or CPA licensure is strongly preferred. The role typically requires 10+ years of progressive financial experience in a hospital setting, including experience within an integrated delivery system or holding company operating model, with demonstrated leadership in annual operating plan processes, monthly operating reviews, variance analysis, and short- and long-term capital planning. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a matrixed healthcare environment and will bring strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build effective physician relationships.
