Description

The client is seeking a Vice President, Development to serve as a key senior team member and an active participant in strategic decision-making. Reporting to the President and CEO, the role leads fundraising and development activities in partnership with the CEO and other senior leaders, with responsibilities spanning strategy, stewardship, and sustainable growth to advance justice and equity. The position manages a development team of six professionals and is expected to help increase the organization’s visibility, impact, and long-term sustainability.

Primary responsibilities include designing and implementing forward-leaning development strategies to steward new foundations and corporations, as well as individual donors, while sustaining an approximately $18M budget through the identification and successful cultivation of institutional grants, individual giving, major donors, and corporate support. The VP will also oversee a donor event intended to drive visibility, engagement, and revenue, and will work collaboratively across a matrixed organization to secure funding for new initiatives. The role will expand and diversify the national foundation and individual donor base, building a stronger pipeline for future support.

The VP will be a strategic fundraiser capable of translating complex, evolving advocacy work into clear narratives and compelling donor communications. They will function as a trusted frontline fundraiser and external ambassador, representing the client with major donors, foundation partners, and key stakeholders while partnering closely with the CEO. The role will provide vision and leadership for stewardship and sustainable growth, establish and execute short- and long-term development priorities to increase support from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners, and engage with the Boards to support effective cultivation and stewardship.
