The client is seeking a distinguished and visionary legal executive to serve as its next Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs, Risk and Compliance and General Counsel. The role provides strategic foresight, functions as a business catalyst, and mitigates enterprise risk while acting as the client’s primary legal counsel and trusted executive advisor.
Reporting directly to the Chancellor and serving as an essential member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet, the Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs, Risk and Compliance and General Counsel leads the Division of Legal Affairs, Risk, and Compliance. The division includes the Office of Legal Affairs, the Office of Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management, the Title IX Office, and the Department of Internal Audit. The position serves as the institution’s principal legal liaison to the Office of the Attorney General of North Carolina and collaborates with other system offices and peer institutions.
The Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs, Risk and Compliance and General Counsel will oversee enterprise legal strategy, compliance, risk management, and internal audit functions in support of the client’s mission. This executive role is expected to guide decision-making with a focus on reducing enterprise risk and strengthening organizational compliance across the client’s operations.
