The client seeks a Vice Chair of Research to help shape the direction of pediatric research within a comprehensive academic health setting. This senior academic leadership role will provide meaningful scope, visibility, and influence as part of a broader effort to elevate the institution’s research enterprise and strengthen a nationally recognized children’s health and pediatric specialty care mission.
Reporting to the Chair of Pediatrics, the Vice Chair of Research will articulate and execute a cohesive research vision; strengthen and coordinate research infrastructure, including pre- and post-award processes, clinical research support, and investigator development pathways; expand clinical and translational research; and foster collaboration across pediatric sections as well as with adult departments and institutional partners. The role is intended to be enabled by institutional commitment to space, resources, and authority.
The ideal candidate will have experience, a strong mentoring record, and demonstrated success building programs, teams, or research enterprises. Applicants should hold an M.D., D.O., Ph.D., or equivalent degree; be eligible for appointment at the associate or full professor level; and be board-certified in Pediatrics (if applicable). They should demonstrate a nationally recognized record of accomplishment, including sustained external funding and leadership in collaborative research programs, with a motivation to recruit and mentor the next generation of pediatric investigators, including physician-scientists.
