The client is seeking an accomplished clinician and leader to serve as Vice Chair of Network Inpatient Services and Section Chief of Hospital Medicine. In this role, you will lead innovative program development and manage day-to-day clinical operations for the hospital medicine service, which provides care to a substantial share of the general inpatient adult population. You will report to the Chair of Medicine and be responsible for advancing evidence-based clinical protocols and outcomes measures that improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of inpatient care.
you will recruit and mentor faculty and trainees, strengthen collaboration with departmental and hospital partners, and lead the academic mission of the division, including support for educational initiatives within the internal medicine residency program. This position is expected to have strong administrative leadership and a solid background in clinical education, with the ability to lead physicians, researchers, and educators while continuously improving operations, quality, patient safety, and patient flow. You will collaborate across the health system to ensure program goals align with system priorities, and you will cultivate a supportive culture through clear communication and effective mentorship for academic and career growth.
you will oversee inpatient hospital medicine activities across the network, including leadership of hospitalists and coordination of overnight coverage, and you will work closely with other clinical teams and the internal residency program director to ensure resident needs and training experience are met. Responsibilities also include collaborating with department and nursing leadership to optimize operational policies and procedures, supervising and mentoring division faculty and advanced practice providers, and supporting clinical, research, and teaching activities in internal medicine to sustain a high-performing, accredited residency program. The role anticipates approximately 80% protected time for administrative duties and includes support for strategic initiatives to adapt to a changing healthcare environment.
