Description

The client is seeking a Vice President of Medical Affairs to join the senior leadership team and oversee medical staff operations and clinical initiatives that support safe, effective, and high-quality medical care. This role will help improve patient services, foster physician alignment and satisfaction, and lead evidence-based programs and practices that drive quality, service, and financial outcomes. The position is expected to balance approximately 60% administrative responsibilities and 40% clinical involvement.

Key responsibilities include physician relations and affairs, medical staff communications, and oversight of key performance and patient care metrics. The Vice President of Medical Affairs will also lead safety initiatives and support quality and service excellence, including physician leadership development, physician performance improvement, and physician recruitment. As a strategic partner and thought leader, the role will regularly interface with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to a variety of clinical initiatives.

Qualifications include an MD or DO degree, with a Master’s degree in healthcare or business administration viewed favorably. The individual is expected to have Pennsylvania licensure or the ability to obtain licensure, with specialty board certification preferred. The role requires progressive experience in increasingly responsible leadership positions, including substantial time in a similarly complex environment with demonstrated administrative achievement, strong communication skills with senior management, staff, regulatory entities, and community stakeholders, and a record of successfully leading senior professional teams. Experience in managing in a community hospital setting, knowledge of healthcare system relationships, ability to analyze operating performance trends with senior executives, and a history of positive medical staff and board relations are also expected.
