Description

Rape Crisis Midwest (RCM) is seeking a trustee with psychotherapy experience to support survivors of sexual abuse and violence through trauma-informed and survivor-centered services. The trustee will contribute to the strategic direction and operational excellence of RCM, ensuring that the organization continues to meet the complex needs of individuals affected by sexual violence. The trustee will play a vital role in holding perpetrators accountable and countering victim blaming, while promoting dignity, healing, and choices for survivors.

The trustee role requires professional qualifications in psychotherapy, psychology, counseling, or a related mental health field, along with significant experience working with trauma survivors, particularly those affected by sexual violence. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, safeguarding, and survivor-centered approaches is essential, as well as an awareness of ethical considerations in therapeutic practice and mental health service delivery. The trustee must be committed to supporting survivors and promoting mental health and well-being, and will be expected to attend 8-10 meetings per year for a 3-year term.

Rape Crisis Midwest provides free, confidential, and non-judgmental support and counseling to survivors of sexual abuse and violence, operating from an intersectional feminist framework. Services include crisis counseling, long-term psychotherapy, Garda and court accompaniment, advice to survivors and their supporters, and sexual violence training to individuals and organizations. The organization works nationally in partnership with other agencies to respond to sexual violence in society and hold perpetrators accountable, with headquarters in Limerick and outreach centers in Ennis and Nenagh.
