The client is seeking a Trustee with legal experience to enhance the client's governance and compliance efforts. This role is critical for maintaining the client's integrity and supporting its mission to aid families affected by sudden cardiac death and inherited cardiac conditions.
The charity, which operates across Ireland, relies on donations from individuals and communities to provide its services, as it does not receive government funding. The Trustee's responsibilities will include advising on governance, regulatory matters, legal compliance, and strategic planning, ensuring that the charity's assets and resources are managed responsibly.
The ideal candidate will possess professional legal training and experience in areas such as charity law, corporate governance, or commercial law. This voluntary position requires a strong commitment to the client's values and objectives, and the ability to translate complex legal matters into practical guidance for the Board and management team.
The candidate must also be a confident contributor to Board discussions and strategic decision-making processes, playing a significant role in the development of policies and risk management strategies. An ambassadorial role is also expected, promoting the client's mission and enhancing its public profile.
The role demands approximately 34 hours of service per month, primarily for Board meetings and financial oversight activities. The client conducts these meetings mostly online, with one annual in-person meeting held in Dublin. Applicants should be able to provide valuable legal insight, support the client's strategic goals, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including charity regulation and data protection laws.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the charity's sustainability while working with a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and Trustees.
