Description

The client is seeking a new Trustee to join its Board and help guide strategy, strengthen governance, and accelerate progress for people affected by epilepsy. Epilepsy is associated with significant stigma and challenges including preventable risks, fragmented services, and unequal access to treatment, and the role will support efforts that combine research, specialist care, and national advocacy to drive change at scale. This is an important time for the organization as advances in genetics, data, diagnostics, and personalized medicine create new opportunities while the care system faces increasing pressure.

As a Trustee focused on research, you will support the direction of the organization’s research activities, strengthen global collaborations, and help translate scientific discoveries into real-world impact. You will interpret complex information and contribute to Board-level decisions, helping ensure the organization remains at the forefront of epilepsy science and that knowledge generated reaches the people who need it most. The Board role is expected to be collaborative and diplomatic while also enabling you to speak independently when needed.

The client welcomes candidates with a strong commitment to its mission and values, sound judgement, and empathy and ethical decision-making. You should have recent experience in high-quality academic or clinical research and be confident shaping research-related strategy and decisions. The client also welcomes diverse backgrounds and individuals stepping into their first non-executive role. If selected to later stages, you will be asked to provide references and may be contacted for those who proceed, with permission obtained before referees are contacted.
