The client is seeking a Trustee with experience in youth sector charity work for an initial period of 6 months, with the opportunity to extend to 12 months, subject to successful participation. The client is a small grass-roots charity that provides emergency first-aid training to young people, particularly those at risk of harm related to violent crime and/or drug use. The committee manages day-to-day operational duties, while the board of trustees provides governance and policy oversight, including financial matters and insurance coverage, and works closely with the committee to support delivery of the organization’s charitable objectives.
The Trustee will help support the delivery of teaching sessions to small groups of young people through teaching and youth service centres across Dublin, and will engage in governance activities aligned with the charity’s objectives. Board meetings are held approximately once per month and are fully remote, conducted via online meeting platforms. The role typically requires a time commitment of about 2–3 hours per month.
Essential attributes include enthusiasm for supporting disadvantaged young people across Dublin, interest in charity governance and policy development, and past experience in youth charity work. Candidates should be willing to undergo Garda Vetting with no significant relevant criminal record and be able to commit 2–3 hours per month. Desirable attributes may include experience serving as a secretary or chairperson at a charity board level, experience sourcing funding and managing grant funds, leadership skills, and interest or experience in safeguarding and volunteer training and development. The client is evolving and may expand its charitable work by recruiting additional volunteers to deliver more first-aid sessions.
