The client is seeking an experienced Chair to lead the Trust Board, shaping strategy, vision, and purpose while ensuring the organisation is held to account for delivering its strategy and value for money. The Chair will foster a culture of learning, continuous improvement, and compassionate leadership, with a particular focus on quality, safety, access, and patient experience, and will drive effective change through the balance of strategic and operational oversight.
In addition to chairing the Board, the Chair will lead the Council of Governors and ensure effective working between the Council and the Board to shape the Trust’s future strategy and strengthen links between the Trust, its staff, and the communities served. The role involves building confidence in the quality and safety of services, ensuring resources are used efficiently, and supporting fair and effective use of public funds, while upholding the highest standards of integrity and probity and maintaining effective governance and compliance.
The successful candidate will provide leadership and guidance to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board, acting as a key link between the directors and the Council of Governors, and ensuring governance acts in the best interests of people, service users, patients, communities, and the wider public. The role requires significant Board leadership experience, including within organisations undergoing recovery and improvement, along with an understanding of NHS governance and regulation, and the credibility to lead a unitary Board and collaborate effectively with stakeholders and partners while meeting performance targets.
