Description

The client is seeking an Independent Director for their High Performance sector, with the role being entirely voluntary and based in Ireland.

The central aim is to promote and oversee the sport of triathlon, along with duathlon, aquabike, and aquathlon, across the nation.

By working closely with a network of affiliated clubs, the client sanctions events and develops structures for athletes of all levels.

The sport is supported by a team of 20+ professionals and numerous volunteers.

The non-executive Board, led by a President, Finance Director, and Vice President, plays a crucial role in steering the client towards achieving its mission of engaging communities, hosting remarkable events, and achieving international success.

The Board comprises a mix of elected Table Officers and Ordinary Directors, as well as co-opted Independent Directors to diversify skills and experience.

Directors are expected to uphold integrity and good faith in all dealings related to the client, its members, and partners.

They must leverage their personal and professional expertise to enhance both immediate and long-term outcomes.

This involves active participation in strategic discussions, monitoring management performance, and ensuring robust financial controls.

Directors are expected to be engaged in senior management decisions, succession planning, and be well-informed about significant organizational strategies and operational activities.

Furthermore, prospective directors should be well-versed in the clients business structure and the broader themes surrounding the sport and its administration.

A comprehensive induction is provided to assist them in understanding the clients operations, roles, and stakeholder obligations.

Directors have a duty to remain informed about partner and sponsor perspectives and continuously enhance their skills to effectively contribute to the Board's objectives.

They must ensure that the clients goals are met efficiently while providing a continual and constructive challenge to existing strategies and operations.
