Description

The client is seeking a Trail Services Coordinator to launch and grow a mission-driven, revenue-generating trail services social enterprise. This role supports fee-for-service trail planning, design, and implementation work, helping municipalities and nonprofit partners develop trail systems that minimize environmental impact while maximizing enjoyment for hikers and mountain bikers. The coordinator will focus on building a sustainable pipeline and represents the trail services program in partner and community settings.

The coordinator will identify and cultivate clients, develop proposals, pitches, and scopes of work, and build strategic partnerships with municipalities and partner organizations. Responsibilities also include supporting internal trail planning by assessing existing trail systems, designing improvements, and helping create new natural-surface, multi-use trails within the client’s conservation areas. The role includes tracking the client pipeline through in-house CRM tools, developing pricing and contracting approaches, maintaining financial tracking for the enterprise, and adapting the business plan as client feedback informs growth.

This position begins as a 6-month contract and may transition to a full-time, year-round role based on milestones such as client contacts and contracts secured, prospect pipeline growth, partner relationship development, and meeting projected revenue goals. The client expects experience in business development, sales, and/or nonprofit fundraising, comfort with outreach and pitching, strong communication skills for proposal writing, and basic financial literacy for budgeting, costing, and revenue tracking. Additional expectations include self-directed work in an early-stage environment, comfort with site visits and physical demands for trail assessments, and some experience or familiarity with natural-surface trail building or maintenance may be beneficial.
