the client is seeking a dynamic Vice President of Development to lead philanthropic efforts and support the next phase of growth and impact. This executive role will secure vital investments, build authentic relationships, and strengthen a culture of philanthropy to advance the organization’s mission. The Vice President of Development leads development strategy through a strategic campaign plan and will engage prospective and current donors, foundations, corporations, and community stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include leading, mentoring, and inspiring a high-performing development team, setting clear performance metrics, and providing regular coaching and data-driven feedback to help ensure fundraising targets are met. The role will structure and resource the development department to maximize fundraising capacity and align with organizational growth, while promoting a supportive, inclusive, and values-driven team environment. The Vice President of Development will collaborate with the CEO, staff, and board to set and achieve ambitious development goals, lead resource development strategies for individuals and organizations, and develop and execute a comprehensive, data-driven development plan to diversify and expand the donor base.
The Vice President of Development will spearhead corporate giving activities, including grants, sponsorships, and in-kind support, and identify and engage new major prospects to grow revenue and broaden the donor base. The role will partner with board members and senior leadership to secure significant gifts, build and sustain long-term relationships with donors and funders, and serve as an external ambassador through impactful solicitations, presentations, and fundraising and cultivation events. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (with a master’s degree preferred), 10+ years of leadership in philanthropic strategies, and demonstrated success across development disciplines such as planned giving, gift solicitation, stewardship, and donor recognition, along with strong communication and management skills.
